Weather Policy

At our pool, safety always comes first—and that includes how we respond to unpredictable weather. While we all look forward to sunny days and summer fun, Mother Nature sometimes has other plans. Here’s what you need to know:

Storms & Lightning

• If lightning is detected within 10 miles, all members will be asked to return to their cars for safety.
• If thunder is heard, guests may temporarily shelter under the pavilion, but should be prepared to move to their cars if conditions worsen.
• In accordance with American Red Cross guidelines, the pool will remain closed for at least 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder or flash of lightning.

Unseasonably Cold Days

• If air or water temperatures fall below safe and comfortable levels, we may delay opening or close early. These decisions are made with the health and comfort of our members in mind.

Duration of Closures

• Some storms pass quickly—within an hour or two—while others may last longer and require the pool to remain closed for the day. We monitor conditions closely and make decisions accordingly.

Stay Informed

• All weather-related updates and closure announcements are posted on our Facebook page. Please check there on days when storms or cooler temperatures are in the forecast.

On-Site Support

• If you have questions during your visit, please speak with the pool manager on duty or one of our lifeguards. They are there to help and ensure everyone’s safety.

We take no pleasure in closing early—we want to enjoy the pool and make memories just as much as our members. But ultimately, weather conditions dictate what we can and cannot do, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
